The Valley Mill Slalom team competed this summer in Ottawa Canada in the Jr. Olympics!
The Valley Mill Slalom team is the vision of Bruce Uthus, the slalom team’s coach, and began in 2007. The team has reached beyond Bruce’s goal of encouraging children to challenge themselves as competitive paddlers, and has become a place for them to learn to be a part of something bigger than themselves, to experience being a part of a team. The Slalom Team stands out as a rare gem among sports teams and after school programs as a place for children to learn, grow and develop positive life long relationships as well as well-rounded athletic skills. Above all else, they are learning to develop a sense of community.
